Light, funny, informative

I enjoyed reading ‘Girl Gone Greek’ while on holiday. I found out new things about Greece, Athens, and how different life can be in the capital as opposed to the one in small towns and villages. The historical and political aspects were also interesting to read about. But amongst all, the cultural observations and the characters had a real charm and personality about them. I have already recommended the book to my friends and have passed it on to my cousin. I loved it so much that I am now dreaming of a new holiday in Greece. So much more to discover!

I enjoyed reading this book. It reminded me of my time learning to live in a different culture. The author has a good understanding of the Greek mind.

A thoroughly enjoyable read

A thoroughly enjoyable read showing Greece is more than just beaches and sunshine, with great observations of Greeks embracing outsiders who appreciate their culture. Some very welcome humour in the character of Kaliopi who provided some laugh-out-loud moments. Highly recommended as a Greek holiday read, served with some strong Greek coffee and spanokopita.

This book is a fantastic account of a pivotal point in Rachael's life. What starts as a reconnaissance of life evolves into the discovery of a new and powerful love of a culture far removed from that of her own native land. Her story contains fascinating characters that provide opportunities for Rachael to show strength and also to learn more about her adopted home. There are so many lessons to be taken away from this book that it leaves the reader feeling well travelled just sitting in their living room!
